Jane and Tony got engaged December 31st (the year they met).... sadly her father was dying of lung cancer.... they planned a wedding for October 12th - but due to the declining health of Jane's father - Tony had strongly suggested they could marry at the chapel in Bellvue .... Jane believed her father would pull through and walk her down the aisle...... this did not happen - her father died the night she was going to the Palladium for a piano concert (she remembers that she never bought black silk stockings before but for some strange reason - stopped to buy a pair - "omen")
