Obituary for Rosa Bronco

Rosa Bronco
SISINA
Rosa, a 49 year old resident of Mahopac, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 3rd, at Putnam Hospital Center (Carmel, NY) at the age of 86. January 21st would have been her 87th birthday, and January 16th would have been her 56th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband Filippo (Phil) Bronco, her son Carlo and Daughter Rosanna, and her two grandchildren Michael and Christina. Rosa was known to her family and friends as “Sisina” (See-See-Nah).
She was born January 21st, 1929 to Salvatore and Raffaela Ferrara in Tramonti, Italy. She was the second of 11 children. Her surviving sisters and brothers are: Carolina Ferrara of Yonkers, Michele Ferrara of Mahopac, Domenico Ferrara of Cedar Grove, N.J., Anna Ferrara, Carmela Ferrara and Sour (sister) Maria Silvia Ferrara who reside in Italy. She is predeceased by her two brothers Francesco and Raffaele Ferrara, both of Yonkers. Sisina also had two twin sisters, Elena and Emilia, who passed away after only a few days of life.
Sisina immigrated to the United States in 1956. She met her husband Phil at a movie theatre in the Bronx that played movies in Italian. They were married on January 16th, 1960 and resided in the Bronx, where they started a family. In 1967 the family of four moved to Mahopac, into a home that Phil built for them with his own hands and a lot of hard work. She lived on Center Road for the next 49 years, until her passing.
Sisina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and godmother. She loved her family with all her heart. She was very proud of all of them, especially her grandchildren Mikey and Tina. She was a devout Christian and had especially strong family values. Sisina enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and loved to grow flowers of all kinds. There were never too many, especially roses. From early spring to the beginning of winter, each and every morning without fail she would go outside and walk around her yard to check to see if the flowers were growing well. She loved everything God created. She had a huge and loving heart and a warm sincere smile for everyone she met. Sisina had a wonderful sense of humor, and when she laughed it came from her belly and was contagious, even if others weren’t sure what they were laughing about yet!
She will be forever missed and never forgotten by all whose lives were touched by her. May she rest in peace, in the arms of the angels, until we meet again.
