Silvio Ceccarelli, 93, passed peacefully on April 20, 2022.
Silvio was born in Sala, Italy on December 15, 1928 to Giovanno and Inez (Sanulli) Ceccarelli. For the past four years, Silvio lived with his wife , Matronia, in New Rochelle. Before moving back to New York, they lived in retirement in New Bern, North Carolina for 25 years. Silvio and Matronia went to community collegeand Silvio taught art and Italian at the local grammar school. He also enjoyed fishing and became a pretty good golfer. Silvio grew up as a teenager in war-torn Italy, where he viewed the chaos and fighting on a daily basis. He joined the Italian navy after the war and sailed the world. While on leave in New York, he met his future wife and they married the following year. Slivio settled in Brooklyn and Matronia and Silvio lived together for 70 years in marital bliss.
He spent his career working at Mama Leone's Ristorante meeting celebrities, sports figure, and even U.S. Presidents and had a story about each encounter.
Silvio is survived by his son Joseph and his wife Susan, his son Silvio Jr. and his wife Eileen, and grandchildren Giacomo, Margaret, Peter, and Michael, and great grandchildren Phaedra and Conrad.
a funeral mass will take plass at 11 a.m. Monday April 25th at St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison, N.Y., Visitation will be Sunday April 24th at the Harrison Funeral Home from 2 p.m.-6 p.m.
