Obituary for Marie G Penza
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Penza, age 91, of Brewster, NY, on December 26, 2021.
Marie was born on September 7, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to Anthony and Florence (D’Anto) Gunn. Marie was the youngest of three siblings, Joseph and Elsie predeceased her. On August 31, 1952, she married Domenic Penza at OLPH church in Brooklyn, NY.
Marie worked as a banker in various positions for many years. She was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter’s troop and was awarded the prestigious Thanks Badge.
Marie relocated to Florida after the death of her husband. She enjoyed sixteen years in Coconut Creek with her sister, sister-in-law, cousins and many friends.
Marie attended the Senior Center in Carmel for many years, volunteering in different capacities.
She looked forward to her annual family vacations in Maine and will be remembered for her great sense of humor. She will be missed immensely.
Marie is survived by her children, Arthur of Oakland, CA, Donald and his wife Maria, of Staten Island, NY, and Susan and her partner Julie of Brewster, NY. She is also survived by her only grandchild, Danny Penza of Medford, OR and granddog, Roxie, who she loved dearly.
A Mass to celebrate and honor Marie’s life will take place on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 10 am at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, NY. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery on Staten Island, NY, where Marie will be laid to rest with her husband, Domenic.
