Obituary for Robert K. Renzler
Robert “Bob” Renzler died Sunday, October 3 in much the same way as he lived: surrounded by family and loved ones sharing the great stories of the life that he lived.
Bob was born in the Bronx on August 9, 1940 to Beatrice Elvira Renzler (née Serio) and Nicholas Renzler. After graduating from Yorktown High School in 1958, Bob joined the US Army and became a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in 1962, Bob founded Robert Renzler Contracting where he enjoyed a long and successful career as one of the most sought after commercial roofing and sheet metal contractors in the region. After laying down his tools at the end of a long week, Bob could be found on his boat “Release Me”, plying the waters of the Atlantic with the warm sun on his face, salt spray in his hair, wearing a huge smile and a backwards-facing baseball cap. Whether fishing the canyons, cruising to Florida, or “rafting-up” with friends, the water was where Bob truly felt at home.
Two years ago, Bob was diagnosed with cancer and like the great captain and adventurer he was, he faced the journey with great courage and spirit. Just a few weeks ago, he was dancing with friends and family at a late-summer rendezvous in Connecticut. As his family and loved-ones can attest, Bob was one of the hardest working, most generous and fun-loving men you would ever have the good fortune to know. The stories are legendary.
Bob’s family meant the world to him. He is survived by his loving wife Jeane Renzler-Petro and his beloved children Carla Renzler (Linda Hauer), Robert Renzler Jr., and Nicole “Boogs” Renzler. Bob is also survived by his brother and best friend Kenneth Renzler and his wife Loraine, his wife Jeane’s loving children (Edward Petro, Cathleen Llorenty, Jeanine Petro) along with several adoring nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by both parents, his first wife Sandra Renzler, and his sisters Dorothy Venzella and Marilyn Pfaffendorff.
In lieu of funeral services, a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
