Angelo Notaro, age 73, died peacefully in the presence of his daughter, Michele Notaro, son, Anthony Notaro Sr., and granddaughter, Vanessa Notaro on September 25th 2021. Angelo fought strongly and courageously until the very end.

Angelo was born on October 6th, 1947 in Castelmauro, Italy and grew up in Civitacampomarano, Italy. Raised by his mother and father, Assunta and Antonio Notaro. Angelo was known as the fun and mischievous brother amongst his five siblings, Vittorio Notaro, Mario Notaro, Esterina Capone, Filomena Macri (who all join him in heaven), and his surviving sister, Italia Cortina. Angelo immigrated to the United States at the young age of 13 on the “Christopher Columbus.”

His first job was at Biratella Bakery on Willow Street, Yonkers, NY when he was 14 years old and he made the best bread and jelly donuts ever! In his entrepreneurial spirit, Angelo ventured into the pizza business, working and learning his trade to become a master pizza man! He was able to successfully open and own several pizzerias throughout his career. Most famously known as Mamma’s Pizza, leaving his trademark and legacy with the best sicilian slice you could ever have!

Angelo is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Josephine Altobelli-Notaro, sister, Italia Cortina, 4 children, Anthony, Michael, Angelo and Michele Notaro and 5 grandchildren, Vanessa, Anthony, Rosemary, Michael and Christopher Notaro. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews here in the US, Christina and Gabriel Cortina, Teresa Capone, Pat De Morninis, Maria Iazurlo and in Italy, Roberto Pietroniro, Michele and Betta Altobelli. His spirit and soul live on through all the countless lives that he had touched.

Aside from spending time with his family and friends, Angelo had a drive to explore, travel, garden, spend time on the beach, he also loved animals and going to horse races. Angelo had a caring, loyal and bright personality that passed from person to person in every interaction. Angelo was a man of few words, but every word said, he meant. He was known to love unconditionally and with all his heart and was truly a man of inspiration, perseverance and hard work.
