Obituary for Steven Celis
Steven was born August 1, 1999, the youngest of two sons of John and Rosa Celis in Queens, NY.
He was born with a heart defect and had health challenges throughout his life. Yet despite these challenges, he cherished every day. He prided himself on always being in great physical condition, as he was not allowed to participate in organized sports events. He was always very mature, well mannered, and accountable. He received many good testimonies from his employers as someone that always stood out.
I quote one of his letters of recommendation:
"Rarely, if ever, have I asked an employee who is leaving me if I could write them a reference letter. That alone should show you that Steven is going to be sorely missed and is leaving with an open invitation to return if he ever finds himself back in Stamford Connecticut.
As an employer it had been at times difficult to find people that I could rely on let alone enjoy working with and trust wholeheartedly. Steven is that rare young man with an impeccable work ethic which he demonstrated in multiple ways.
Since he has worked at my doggy daycare, he has consistently shown up not only on time but early for every one of his shifts, covered other people's shifts when asked, been a self-starter and asked intelligent questions which improved the quality of the care and inner workings of my facility and been willing to try new tasks as called upon.”
I think he would make a wonderful asset to any company that requires timeliness, self-motivation, attention to detail, teamwork and even flexibility and compassion. "
Steven went on to graduate from Stamford High School in June 2018 and worked for Baker Concrete Construction until he graduated to Heaven on April 14, 2021. Baker was also blessed to have him as an employee. Steven went on to marry his High School sweetheart, Fatima Quintanilla Castillo on May 2, 2020.
The world was a better place because Steven touched everyone's heart he encountered! Steven was one of the nicest and sweetest people you could ever know. He never made people feel bad. He was never one to complain. He always had a smile on his face in every situation that could brighten up anyone’s day. He was always willing to help other's because he was concerned about everyone. Although Steven only spent 21 years with us, he has affected us for a lifetime! He was loved by many and will be missed by many
