Gloria Mollica Mutino was born September 11, 1926 to Gennaro and Lucia Tramontano in Harrison NY. She was the youngest of six children with brothers Harry and Anthony, and sisters Fanny (Sabia), Jean (Sabia), Rosie (Aloia), and Mary (Ruspini) all deceased. While living in Harrison she attended the Harrison public schools, and was a parishioner at St. Gregory’s Church.
In 1945 she married Salvatore Mollica of Port Chester NY, a long-time employee of Electrolux Corp in Old Greenwich CT. They moved to Rye, NY in 1960 where her three sons graduated high school. Salvatore died suddenly in November 1970.
In 1983, she married Patsy Mutino of Port Chester NY. While married to Pat, they traveled extensively, along with maintaining an active social life. They would take frequent long walks together to and along the Boardwalk in Rye Playland, meeting up with friends and family. They were attentive and loving grandparents to Gloria’s several grandchildren. In 2009, after a long illness, Patsy passed away.
Gloria worked all her life mostly in an office clerical capacity for publishing firms including Fawcett Publications and CBS in Greenwich CT until her retirement.
Gloria was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Port Chester NY, volunteered at United Hospital, and belonged to the Rye Senior Citizens.
She will be remembered most for her profound devotion and boundless love for her three sons, her generosity and willingness to help (and feed) others, and her phenomenal Italian cooking.
She is survived by her three sons: Salvatore (and Mary Beth) Mollica of Westport CT, Tony (and Clare) Mollica of Florence TX, and Bill (and Theresa) Mollica of Fairfield CT; her six grandchildren: Mark (Kate) Mollica of Brooklyn NY, Lauren (John) Courtney of Norwalk CT, Matthew (Meredith) Mollica of Austin TX, Jay Mollica of Miami FL, Alyssa Mollica of Bridgeport CT, and Alexander Mollica of Manhattan NY; and her seven great-grandchildren: Leo, Vincent, and Ennio Mollica; James and Daniel Courtney; and Ike and Sammy Mollica.
