Doris M. Evey
Doris Mae Evey, aged 90, passed away in New Rochelle, NY on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
Born October 6, 1930 to the late Kenneth and Mabel Breen in Corning, NY, she graduated from Painted Post High School in 1948, and was Vice President of her Senior Class. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA in 1951. She married Gaylord Evey in 1951 and moved with her family to Vineland NJ in 1959.
Even though she had six children, Doris still devoted much of her adult life in service to her community through various organizations. She was a past-President of the following organizations: Vineland Junior Women’s Club, Vineland Jaycee Women, Dane Barse PTA and Xi Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also a member of the Vineland Women’s Club, The Red Hat Society and the Trinity Episcopal Church in Vineland. In her later years, Doris worked as a volunteer at the Museum of American Glass at Wheaton Village in Millville, NJ.
She was preceded in death by her loving companion, Salvatore Russello who passed away in 2017.
Doris is survived by her six daughters: Judith Snyder and her husband, Keith of East Stroudsburg, PA, Loretta Calandruccio and husband Robert of Harrison, NY, Donna Postle and husband Robert of Amesbury, MA, Karen Evey of Pennsville, NJ, Carolyn Schofield and husband Mark of Dameron, MD and Elizabeth Mashakas and husband Stosh of Centreville, VA. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service. There will be a private ceremony to celebrate her life that will be held at the convenience of the family in Painted Post, NY.
