On Tuesday, October 13, 2020, Josephine Loguidice (Grasso), loving wife, and proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, passed away at the age of 90 surrounded by family and friends.

Josephine was born on August 11, 1930 in Yonkers, NY and was currently a resident of Harrison, NY. In her early years she worked as a seamstress and in her later years she worked at the Herald Statemen in the circulation department. However, Josephine’s role as a dedicated wife and mother to her four children was the most important to her.

Josephine’s seamstress skills were put to use once again as a designer of costumes for her children’s school plays at St. Joseph Elementary School and in designing Barbie dolls costumes for her daughter.

Josephine was an artist contributor in her high school yearbook and enjoyed sketching with her grandchildren. Their favorite, “The Glamorous Smoking Lady”. Her grandchildren gave her much joy and she would attend every event, from school plays, football games, Grandparents Day, graduations, etc., eager to exercise every bragging right allotted to a grandparent.

Josephine was a people person who could always make you laugh. She was blessed with the gift of making friends. She was known for her warm and welcoming personality and an unselfish nature that was evident up to her last days.

Holidays will always have her loving presence and traditions, right down to the Thanksgiving ham.

Josephine will be greatly missed.

Josephine is predeceased by her husband Dominic Loguidice, whom she was married to for 66 years. She is survived by her four children: Vito Loguidice, M.D. (Patricia), Caroline Antonucci (Robert), Dominic Loguidice (Anna), and Ralph Loguidice (Shelley); three siblings: Clara Gardner, Lucy Flynn, and Salvatore Grasso (Regina); 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in Josephine’s honor to The American Kidney Fund.

To Vito, Caroline, Dominic, Ralph, and the entire Loguidice family. Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your Mom & Dad. When I learned of Josephine’s passing, I also learned the Big D passed in August. I have countless Great memories of your mom & dad. Big D’s sense of humor, quick wit, always laughing and joking around. It didn’t matter if we were in the cellar making garden fences, freezing during a hunting trip, or just hanging on the front porch, your Dad had the ability to make everyone smile and laugh. Your Mom, Josephine. A beautiful person who radiated sincerity, warmth, and love in all that she did. One of the sweetest ladies I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I speak for everyone in the Lotz family, our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time…

Dear Loguidice and Grasso families,
John and I are in sorrow again at the passing of another icon of your families. Josephine was strong, fun, and very, very serious about the care and nurturing of her family. She started 69 years ago with her surprise baby brother Salvatore!
Regina told me the story of the Wedding Song and that being Josephine's last request. If there never was a heaven, then that moment before her death was a piece of an earthly heaven here for us to learn about peace and true love.
Be well and safe in her memory and that of her beloved Dom. You all are the best of them. Amen.
Eleanor and John Scarcella
