John Stuart (Sarky) Sarkissian passed away on June 11, 2020, from complications from a fractured hip. During his 30 plus years in the Lakeland School District Sarky was a beloved history teacher, football coach and administrator. He also became a member of the Carmel High School football family and was a volunteer coach up until last season. He was devoted to his students and football players, mentoring and guiding many of them who went on to become close friends after graduation. As devoted as he was to his students, he was as devoted to his family. He was married for 50 years to his beloved wife Gloria, passed away in January 2003 after a lengthy illness. He leaves behind his companion of 12 years, Catherine Ott Williams, who took wonderful care of him after a serious car accident in 2010. He also leaves behind his four children, JoAnne and her husband Jeff, John and his wife Ramona, Steven and Michelle. In addition, he leaves behind three granddaughters, Wysteria, Gabriella, Alexandra, one grandson, Jason, three step granddaughters, Adina, Angelica and Alayna, and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial will be held at a future date.
