Obituary for Iolanda Ricci (Iolanda Fiorilli)

.
It is with great sadness that the family of Iolanda (Yolanda) Fiorilli Ricci announce her peaceful passing on May 22, 2020. Yolanda’s devotion to her family and firm belief in God were always her source of peace.

Yolanda was born on October 23, 1935, in St. Bartolomeo, In Galdo, Benevento, Italy to Alfonzo and Maria Carmela Gianetta Fiorilli.

On September 29, 1962, Giovanni Antonio Ricci and Yolanda were married in Pompei, Italy. Giovanni “John” and Yolanda came to the United States and began their life together in New Rochelle, New York. Yolanda worked as a seamstress for a short period of time before starting the greatest, rewarding, and most loving time of her life, that of a mother. It was truly her reason for being and thankful to God for blessing her with her sons. Yolanda, Giovanni, and their two sons, Joseph and Anthony spent most of their lives together in their home in Harrison, New York. Once her sons were grown, Yolanda helped Giovanni operate two of the family businesses: pizza restaurants. Ricci’s Pizza was located in Harrison, then in New Rochelle. She was an integral part of both restaurants. Patrons became friends; loyally coming into the restaurants to see Yolanda and her beautiful smile and listen to her keep Giovanni in order! If we think for a minute, we can hear her calling: “John, John…” This petite woman exuded a resilient personality and was a very strong woman who persevered through sadness and pain with guidance from God. Yolanda would say “Catholic is the best religion.” She was a faithful parishioner at St. Gregory the Great Parish in Harrison, New York.

Yolanda is survived by and will forever be remembered by her husband Giovanni “John” of almost 58 years, of Harrison, NY. Loving and devoted mother of Joseph (and Linda) Ricci of
Scarsdale, NY and Anthony (and Jennifer) Ricci of Harrison, NY and Nonna to granddaughter Elizabeth, of Harrison, NY. She is also survived by her brother Antonio Fiorilli of
St. Bartolomeo, In Galdo, Benevento, Italy and sister Antoinetta Fiorilli of
New Rochelle, NY. Flavia Fiorilli Shulman, God’s gift and blessing, Yolanda’s most dear, and loving sister-in-law, of Briarcliff, NY survives her in addition to many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends in the United States and Italy.

Yolanda is predeceased by her parents, Alfonzo and Maria Fiorilli, her brother
Guido Fiorilli, sister Ersilia Agostinelli, precious angelic infant daughter Mary, and beloved infant grandson Anthony.

Funeral services are private. A Memorial Service will be held for Yolanda at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to

“The memory of a good person is a blessing.” Proverbs 10:7. We are blessed. We will miss her dearly and always remember her smile and love in our hearts.
