Obituary for Ronald L Drumheller

Ronald L Drumheller
Ronald Lee Drumheller, 73, passed away on Monday, October 9th, 2017 in the comfort of his daughter’s home after a long struggle with cancer. Ron was a fighter until the very end and will be remembered for his tenacity. Ron was born on January 4th, 1944 in Bechtelsville, PA to Alverda and Earl Drumheller during a blizzard. Earl drove his farm tractor 6 miles through the storm to pick up the town doctor, who clung onto the running boards during the 6 mile journey back home to help deliver baby Ron.

During his formative years, Ronald was extremely studious and spent much of his free time studying, obtaining a full scholarship to MIT. Ron majored in Electrical Engineering and minored in music. He had a passion for playing the piano and especially loved Baroque music. Following his undergraduate degree, Ron attended law school at the University of Illinois and became a patent attorney. Ron pursued many interests while in college; golfing, obtaining a pilot license, learning how to scuba dive and ski.

Ron met his loving wife Lillian during his employment at Philips, and he subsequently left Philips to join IBM to further his relationship with Lilly. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage together. Ron and Lilly loved spending their time skiing and participated in many ski races together at Hunter Mountain. They also enjoyed vacationing at Martha’s Vineyard and were avid bowlers, participating in a bowling league together for 10 years.

Ron took great pride in his daughter Kristen and cared deeply for his two grandchildren Lucas and Evelyn. Ron enjoyed spending many hours playing the piano for his grandson.

Ronald is survived by his wife Lillian Drumheller, daughter Kristen Fannin (Nick Fannin), grandchildren Lucas and Evelyn, and brother Kenneth Drumheller. A Funeral Mass for Ronald will be held on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Mahopac, NY at 11:30 A.M.Visitation at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home in Carmel, NY on Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. and 7 P.M. to 9 P.M.
