Obituary for Rita Angela Verrino (Rita Elicati)

Rita Angela Verrino (Rita Elicati)
Rita Verrino, of Harrison, N.Y., passed away on June 19, 2016. She was 86 year¬¬¬s old.
Rita was born on December 21, 1929, in the Bronx, N.Y., to the late Ileana and Gino Elicati. She married the late Domenic Verrino on May 23, 1953. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Moraitis, her son Perry Verrino, daughter in-law, Anne Marie Verrino, brothers Joseph Elicati and Anthony Elicati, sisters-in-laws Dorothy and Marion and grandchildren—Kristen Verrino, Jennifer Stathes (Jerry), Michael Verrino, Jessica Kemp (Terence), Amanda Verrino and Samantha Moraitis.

A devout Catholic, Rita lived a life full of love and charity. She was a constant force in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She would always send two cards on their birthdays, filled with kind words and blessings for a bright future. She worked over 30 years as the Parish Manager for St. Gregory the Great Church, and played an integral part in the liturgical function of the church. From scheduling sacramental celebrations to keeping baptismal records, Rita’s tireless labor for the Church mirrored the work of St. Gregory, which, like the saint, made her Great. From her family to the parishioners of St. Gregory, Rita was revered and adored by all who know her. Rita, “RaRa,” Verrino was our angel on earth, and she will surely be missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Hospital or Hospice Care Network.
