Michael E. Treanor of Beacon, NY, formally of Fishkill, Cambridge & Bedford Hills, NY
This is a fond farewell to an Irish Blessing.
Michael passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 16, 1923 in Carrickroe, Emyvale, Co Monaghan, Ireland to James and Elizabeth Treanor, he was the youngest of eleven children.
He is survived at home in Beacon, NY by his loving wife of 12 years, Lydia Panko Treanor. He is also survived by his daughters Margaret McAuliffe & husband John of Carmel, NY, Marian Kilkenny & husband John of Fishkill, NY and son Patrick Treanor of Florham Park, NJ, Daughters-In-Law Diane Treanor and Dee Treanor both of Venice Florida, step children Luba Weidler, Fl, Nina & Ted Keating, NH, Peter & Pam Panko, NY. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was “Poppy” to almost every young person he came in contact with, but most importantly to his grandchildren Michelle & Eric Vitner , Ellen McAuliffe, Kathleen McAuliffe, Johnny & Nancy McAuliffe , Roisin McAuliffe, Catherine & David Mowen, Bernard Kilkenny, Kevin & Jessica Kilkenny, all of NY, Nicole Kilkenny, NY & FL, Courtney Treanor, FL, Jason & Carolyn Treanor, RI, James Anthony Treanor, FL, Karen & Kyle Boisclair, SC, also Shawn & Brian Wells, FL, Paul & Mi-Young Treanor, FL, Kyleigh Keating, NH, Christopher Keating, NH, Kathy Gene Balis, NY, Ashley & Eric Wolfe, FL, and John Paul Balis, of China.
Also great grandfather to Una, Sydney, Kelsey & Finn Treanor, Reily, Rory & Ryan Mowen, Kiera Kilkenny, Rowan Vitner , Jarrett & Morgan Wells, Brendan Treanor, and Shion McAuliffe, along with several anticipated great grandchildren who are expected in the coming year.
Predeceased by his adoring wife of 48 years, Kathleen in 1998, his sons Michael J. Treanor in 2007 and Seamus J. Treanor on 6/15/2012, grandson Connie Mikey McAuliffe in 1981, and siblings Eugene, Jimmy, Margaret, Catherine, Elizabeth, Annie, Rosie, Peter, Ellen, and John of Ireland and New York
Michael was an honorary member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Mt. Kisco, NY as well as the Emerald Society and The Kevin Barry Irish Club. Michael was an usher at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill, NY. He volunteered at local nursing homes and the Castle Point Veterans Hospital playing his accordion for the residents.
His great wit and kind nature will be forever missed by all. Those who knew Michael will never forget the twinkle in his amazing blue eyes and “how we’ll titter and how we’ll chaff” when we find out if Poppy was really sitting in “Granny’s Old Arm Chair.”
The family wishes to thank all those who helped Michael through this peaceful transition. We especially wish to thank our dear friend Eileen O’Hare for her incredibly kind and gentle blessing.

Visitation will be held at Balsamo - Cordovano Funeral Home, 15 Church Street - Carmel, NY 10512. Phone: (845) 225-2144 - on Monday,December 10th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Fishkill NY on Dec. 11th Burial to follow to Raymond Hill Cemetery.
